Customized or “off-the-shelf” orthopaedic shoes are designed to accommodate various foot types and specific conditions. Special features and shoe accommodations include extra width, adjustable closures (laces, Velcro), deep heel supports and a thicker heel/sole for shock absorption. Often orthopaedic shoes can be accommodated with a custom made orthotic insert to help alleviate and address a patients’ injury or condition.
